Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 18th June 2021
Y6 – Friday 18th June 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
For pupils attending HCCS on Tuesday 22nd June - please see email from Mrs Schurer-Lewis regarding returning to Goostrey on Tuesday afternoon - thank you.
Looking back:
Plent of lovely photos to view this week - please see our "Display Work Items" tab to enjoy - thank you.
A super week in Year 6 where hopefully, if you look through this week’s photos, you’ll see that we’ve been spending lots of time outdoors in the playground, particularly for maths and English, which is quite unusual. This allows us to spread out, be even more creative, and the adults can move around the pupils more easily to share their work. The children have given lots of positive feedback so, weather permitting, we’ll be working outdoors more often.
Our maths assessments have been completed and between now, and the end of term, we will continue to work through some arithmetic and reasoning sessions to prepare us for year 7. English on Friday had the pupils working in twos to write a narrative extract with ‘integrated dialogue’. Science has looked at the heart and circulatory system; Mrs Cowell returned to Year 6 to begin the ‘Take One Picture’ activity; on Wednesday, we looked at inspirational quotes from a superb book called “Dreams of Freedom” and the class came up with some outstanding contributions; Friday French looked at – but sadly didn’t actually taste – ice-creams; and Premier Sports has seen the class beginning to prepare for our sports day.
On Thursday afternoon, the class were visited by Debbie Goldsmith who brought her expertise in “hat making” to year 6. They thoroughly enjoyed listening to her advice and the pupils have begun to design their own hat bands. More on this in the coming weeks – thanks to Mrs Goldsmith for giving up her time to share her knowledge with us.
