Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 19th May 2023
Y6 – Friday 19th May 2023 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
We are pleased to have our assessments for English (reading and GAPS) and maths out of the way and this week, we’ve enjoyed ourselves with many different activities. We have begun to work on our next piece of writing and we’ve used our class text “The Good Thieves” to work from. We have started a project all focused on cakes in maths – what’s not to like there?
The swimming pool arrived and we’ve all enjoyed a few lessons in the water – more time in the pool will come on Wednesday and Friday afternoons in the coming week. We measured heart rate, and considered circulation for science; the story of Eweka has been a focus for history; Mrs Cooper took us through an ICT lesson on Wednesday; and with Mrs Riddell, we began to design our hats. We’ve got lots of photos from this week to share – please enjoy these by clicking on the “Display Work Items” link on our site.
We have begun to read through our playscript – “I’m an 11-Year-Old: Get Me Out of Here”! It’s already very funny and the children are really enjoying taking on character roles and we’ve even got some brilliant voices being added. We will be looking at auditions this week so if the children wish to have a go, they’re all invited to do so.
We’re really looking forward to the week ahead.

Homework in Year 6
Mrs. Timmins:
Please read through the playscript in full and decide on the characters you might like to apply for. You are advised to think of the top three or four and we will ask you to jot these down in class so that we can give the parts out as fairly as possible.
