Y6 – Friday 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Our second full week in school has been super-busy once more.  We have continued to look at the life of Rob Burrow for our Exhibition work, alongside getting to grips with our new spelling scheme “Spelling Shed”.  The pupils have enjoyed looking at a range of tasks to reinforce the spelling of specific words.  Our afternoons have included sorting and classifying (though not actually ‘eating’) liquorice allsorts; the governance of the USA; mapped state capitals; learned about Shambo the cow; practised our football skills; and begun to look at hats for different purposes. On Friday, we continued with our buddy books – the anticipation of new playmates is high – and these may have come home for completion.  Please can these be in school by Thursday – thank you.

• EH – Writing our paragraphs about Rob Burrow
• CT – Learning how to use Spelling Shed

• What do the following terms mean? Phoneme; Grapheme; Morpheme; Etymology; Circa
• Tell me all you can about Shambo.
• How is America governed? Which state capitals can you remember?

Looking forward:

• We are having a week of learning which will continue with the topics we have mentioned about. PE will continue to be on Friday afternoons – even when the weather is wet.  Please see below for the list of homework set.
