Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 22nd November 2024

Y6 – Friday 22nd November 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

What an amazing week it’s been – this week has been jam-packed with lots of practical activities squeezed into our timetable.  Alongside our writing in role as a crew member on Shackleton’s Endurance, we’ve revisited work on fractions.  During the afternoons, we’ve learned about the history of bread on Monday, before we enjoyed making our own bread on Wednesday afternoon.  A huge thanks to Mrs Cowell for arranging this tasty treat!  We thoroughly enjoyed extra time with our buddies on Tuesday as we helped to plant some new hedges behind the school.  It was extra PE time on Thursday and on Friday we enjoyed the morning spending our time learning about Forest School and munching on toasted marshmallows.  What an amazing time to be in Year 6!

 Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Going out to plant the hedges
  • Seeing our buddies on Tuesday
  • Breadmaking in the Sunshine Room
  • Marshmallows
  • The Forest School
  • Writing in character
  • Working in the hall
  • PE on Friday

Family discussion questions:

  • Tell me three things you enjoyed about Forest School.
  • What are the key ingredients for making bread and what have you learned about the history of bread?
  • What is a “hummock”?

Looking forward:

  • We are having a much quieter week next week with lessons back to the usual, enjoyable routine. On Wednesday, pupils are allowed to come in “free dress” in return for a donation of chocolate for Christmas.
