Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 24th January 2025
Y6 – Friday 24th January 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
A super week has just whizzed by – do enjoy looking at this week’s photos to see a snapshot of what we have been up to. We have completed some amazing narrative extracts based upon “Hansel and Gretel”; our work on ratio has been rounded off with some tricky recipe questions; we’ve studied what life was like in the Stone Age; we’ve played our second round of “Game of Survival”; enjoyed a crash course in coding; we’ve studied the skills of a milliner; practised our gymnastic routines; enjoyed time with our buddies; and really enjoyed being in school with our friends.
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Enjoying writing our stories
- Sharing and reading our friends’ stories
- Finding out about living in the stone age
- Looking at the work of a milliner
- Working in the sunshine room for maths
- Seeing our buddies
- Being in the astro turf
Family discussion questions:
- Tell me what words you used to describe the “potion” that the old woman mixed for Gretel.
- What was it like during the Stone Age?
- What did you learn about milliners?
- What does the language “scaling/ratio/proportion/” mean?
Looking forward:
- We are looking forward to continuing with our lessons as usual – we will be focusing on our story and taking this a little further; our new maths topic is algebra and we’ll be finding out more about this; our learning about life in the past will continue; and we’ll look forward to spending time with friends and buddies.
