Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 29th April 2022
Y6 – Friday 29th April 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
Busy as ever this week with Year 6 completing a detailed approach to preparations for our reading assessment in a couple of weeks and a practice test – ready to show our strengths – on Friday. Maths has seen us looking at circles, the “mean” and using protractors to measure angles. Our afternoon work has involved looking at artefacts linked to our study of Benin; a study of the human circulatory system in science; coding, and the impact of e-safety in ICT; hat design for art; and enjoying rounders in PE. The week was completed with a fun session with our buddies too.
Please note that the pupils have not been given any CGP books for homework this week – we are working from these in class in our final run-up to our SATs.
Letters issued Y6:
No letters this week
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- RB – PE – rounders
- LP – Maths
- FH – Buddytime
- SH – Hat design
- EF – Our reading test
- SC – Working on our poems
Family discussion questions:
- The words “circumference”, “diameter” and “radius” refer to which parts of a circle.
- Describe the artefacts you studied from Benin – what can you tell me about this?
- What is your hat design based on – do you know what you are going to make this from?
Looking forward:
- We are entering our final week of preparations for SATs but that doesn’t mean that we are ONLY focussing on this. We’ll be looking at angles in different shapes in maths. Our afternoon lessons will continue as normal. Please do look out for information regarding the specific details of our SATs week – this will be issued at the end of the week.
