Y6 – Friday 3rd November 2023 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
A great week back after the half term break. Lots of new learning going on in class this week. We began a new book for English called “Shackleton’s Journey” by William Grill and by Friday, all pupils have taken on a role on this epic voyage. Maths has been getting to grips with the formal method for long division – a tricky concept but we’re cracking this. We have studied the “lines” around the world for our geography lessons; used Bertie Basset’s Liquorice Allsorts to classify in science; enjoyed gymnastics in PE; and learned about Ghandi for RE. We completed the week with a fun session with Buddies.

Looking forward:
- We are continuing with Shackleton’s Journey and seeing how the men attempted to cross Antarctica, in addition to continuing with our work on number. Our ICT work will link to previous lessons (from Science) and we will be extending our geographical knowledge of the world. PE will take place again on Friday with buddies rounding off another busy week of learning.
- Wednesday 8th November – Free Dress Day for Garner for winning the house points for the first half term of the year
- Friday 10th November – Film Night. Doors open 5:30pm with the film “Elemental” beginning at 6:00pm
