Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 4th November 2022
Y6 – Friday 4th November 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
It’s been great to have the class back this week. We hope you’ve all enjoyed a lovely half term and that everyone is looking forward to the new half term leading up to Christmas. For English, we have been looking at our new text – “Shackleton’s Journey” by William Grill. We are well into reading this now and are enjoying the story, although there are some tough moments to understand. We have really got to grips with the standard written method for long division (aka the ‘drop down’ method). We have completed some pre-planning about North America and we’re continuing with our new focus on “My Happy Mind”. Such a busy week!
No photos this week - sorry! Our camera has gone on its holiday and forgotten to tell us where!!
Reading Records:
The children have been promised one marble each in their collective jar if they can all get their reading records in on a Thursday. They’ve not managed it yet. Could you help them to make sure their records are handed in on Thursday; these are checked in the afternoon. They must have their reading at home recorded for this week – blank diaries don’t count. It has been just amazing to read comments from parents and pupils about how much you are enjoying spending time together enjoying some fabulous books. Please continue to do this – reading affects every part of our pupils’ curriculum. The more they read, the more they understand, the more vocabulary they collect, understand and use, the more they reflect this in their writing, the more their spelling improves, and so on. 31 marbles are waiting on Thursday………………….Year 6, can you do it this week?
