Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 4th October 2024
Y6 – Friday 4th October 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
What a super week – please do take a look at our gallery of photos this week – around 60 images of our pupils at work. They have enjoyed working on sections of writing about the different challenges of Kevin Sinfield; we’ve consolidated work on prime numbers, prime factors, square & cube numbers and standard written method for long multiplication. Our afternoons have seen us begin to look at Carl Linnaeus; put together infographics about our chosen American heroes & leaders; study good & bad bacteria (and some not-so-lovely facts about the effects); enjoy working on artistic mandalas for RE; practise our football skills with Mrs Murdoch; and enjoy being with our friends. Certainly, our highlight of the week was getting to meet our wonderful buddies on Friday afternoon – the excitement was just so palpable in class, and when we finally got to say hello to them, it was an amazing session. The little ones will enjoy these sessions each Friday – well done to Mrs Flint for pairing the children so well.
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- ZW – Publishing our writing
- TE – Our mandala artwork
- RP – Maths sessions
- IG – Archery during Monday’s wet-play
- MM – Studying Kevin Sinfield’s challenges
- CT – the work on bacteria
- Y6 – Meeting our buddies for the first time
Family discussion questions:
- What to “rules” must a number follow in order to be classified as a Prime Number? Which is the only even prime number? Is the number 1 a prime number – explain why you give your answer.
- Who was Carl Linnaeus and what did he do?
- What is a mandala?
Looking forward:
- We are having our “Rugby Shirts for Rob” on Monday but if your Year 6 pupil doesn’t own a rugby shirt, that’s fine. They can wear the colours of yellow & blue, or the number “7” or just come along in school uniform.
- Wednesday is individual photos – extra smart Y6!!
- Remember to hand in your homework on the correct day.
