This week began with a fun visit to the Crucial Crewe Morning at the home of Crewe Alexandra Football Club. Here, the children chatted with representatives from Network Rail, Scottish Power, School Health Team and Cheshire Police. We learned about the dangers involved with the railways and how to keep ourselves safe; we considered the effects around vaping and how this affects the body, and what we would do if our friends were thinking of vaping; the police discussed the safety of being online, while the nurses discussed the effects of alcohol. It was a really interesting morning and our pupils were able to learn and discuss some things which they may encounter as the grow up. This allowed the children to learn a little more to prepare themselves for the transition to high school, too.
Back in the classroom, we have begun to consider the actions of Ernest Shackleton and we will be considering these a little more next week. Our afternoons have seen us practising for our upcoming Carol Service; we have learned about climate zones around the world; biomes have been discussed; we’ve really enjoyed playing tag rugby; and we’ve almost completed our work around fractions.
