Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 7th June 2024
Y6 – Friday 7th June 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
It was lovely to welcome our Year 6 pupils back from their half term break and this week, we have enjoyed lots of different activities. We have continued our work with our class book “Impossible Creatures” and have just found out a key piece of information – a “wow” moment! We are learning about running the White Rose Bakery and are looking at so many different maths topics when baking cakes and all of the maths that goes into production. Our afternoons have seen us learn some serious concepts around the different concepts of drugs, vaping and cigarettes whilst on a much lighter note, we have been looking at the construction of hill forts, My Happy Mind, and of course – swimming this week. How exciting to have the pool on our playground.
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- IC – Our writing
- LD – Working on the White Rose Bakery
- PN – Swimming
- RB – Buddies
- EA – Finding out about Hillforts
- RW – Pond dipping with the Eco Team
- LMM – PE
- EB – Using the laptops to research composers
- NB – Our English work
Family discussion questions:
- Who is “The Guardian” of The Archipelago?
- Tell me about a hillfort and who might have lived in one of these?
- Which composer did you research for Mrs Riddell?
Looking forward:
- We are visiting the “Father’s Day” gift shop on Monday. Our lessons will be continuing as normal and we shall be starting to rehearse our play when we get a few moments! Please can the children have their scripts in school at all times – thank you. There will be swimming for all Year 6 pupils at some point this week – please ensure they have their kit with them.
