Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 8th November 2024

Y6 – Friday 8th November 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Don't forget to check out this week's photos!

Looking back:

Well, that was a cracking first week back – well done to our pupils who have settled back into learning so well and who’ve been really fun to be with this week.  We’ve begun a new story in English: they should be able to tell you all about it (so far) and we’ve begun to crack fractions including simplifying and ordering.  Our afternoons have seen us looking at mushrooms (no, really!); we’ve booked our family holidays to Florida (pack your bags!); we’ve started down the Oregon Trail; and we are continuing to enjoy the tastes of America that Year 6 are baking – what a super effort you are all making.  We’ve also looked at Divali; we’ve begun to play tag rugby; our buddies have been amazing; and the Year 6 have proudly sold poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion.  How on earth we’ve fitted it all in, we just can’t fathom!

Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • ZL – Finding out what our new book is for English

  • Tell me what you’ve learned about Divali?
  • Talk to me about the special assembly with the nuns and the monk. What did they discuss?

Looking forward:

  • We are having our autumn term parent meetings next week and we are looking forward to chatting about how your children have settled into Year 6. Your children are invited to attend the meetings if you would like them to.
  • Monday – we shall be observing the 2-minute silence for Armistice Day
  • Tuesday afternoon – a short time during the afternoon will involve tree planting – please make sure your child has a coat with them. You might also want to make sure they are wearing footwear for walking in the grass to the side of the infant school
