Yr 4 - Friday 15th February - Looking Back and Forth
Monday 25th February 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
I hope you all had a restful and relaxing half term holiday.
In the last week of term, the children enjoyed their writing about Tudor clothes. At the end of the week the children wrote their own advert from their own Tudor tailors explaining the sort of Tudor garments that could be made for a nobleman. Within this writing, the children focused their attentions on writing expanded noun phrases, including adjectives, prepositions and if appropriate participles. In maths, The class completed the work on fractions, focusing particularly looking at equivalent fractions.
In the afternoons, we had a super 'Computing and Maths Theme Afternoon' on Monday. The children worked with the junior teachers in mixed year groups. Mrs Riddell investigated on budgeting at home, as well as the Fibonacci’s sequence. Mrs Cooper worked on maths problem solving on the laptops. Mr Campion worked on data handling, using the information from the British Garden Bird Count. In Year 4, I showed the children ‘Cultural Maths’, looking at different multiplication methods used around the world. (The Russian Peasant Method and the Egyptian Method)
On Tuesday afternoon, the children created their winter haiku’s onto the ghost gelipad prints. On Wednesday, some of the class went to Young Voices, and the rest had Mr Capewell (H.C.C.S) for Hi 5 and had a fun Tudor Murder Mystery afternoon!
With Mrs Cooper this week the children continued to worked on Microsoft Logo, which is basics of programming. In French, the children studied the weather and the days of the week.
