Yr 4 Friday 27th September - Looking Back and Forth
Friday 27thth September 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week the children completed their work on Everest mountaineers biographies in English. They published their Mallory biographies as well as completing their first drafts of their other Everest mountaineers biographies.
In maths, we worked on arithmetic work with Mrs Benson. We also had week 3 of our timestables. We revised Roman Numerals and by degrees we are much more confident as a group.
Year 4 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Publishing my George Mallory biography
- The MOSI visit
- Researching about George Mallory and other famous Everest mountaineers
- Swimming
- The adverbs work on Friday
- Playing with my friends.
Family discussion questions:
- What Roman Numerals can you remember?
- How do you write 49 in Roman Numerals?
- Which Everest mountaineers have you studied?
- What was significant about them?
- What was the best bit of MOSI?
- What is an adverb?
- What do a lot of adverbs end in?
Looking forward:
There are lots of exciting things happening this week. This week we will begin a new unit of work on non-chronological reports. We will start by looking at wolves and then move onto reports about Mt Everest.
On Monday we will be meeting Kurt Adams an Olympic athlete. He is a canoeist and will work with Year 4 on Monday morning. In maths we will be looking at bigger numbers – 1,000’s as well as continuing our work on Rock stars timetables and Arithmetic.
In the afternoons, we will be going to Sandbach leisure centre for our swimming lesson. In the afternoons we will be continuing our topic on mountains, revisiting the types of mountains as well as looking at the climates in mountain ranges. We will also be working with a metal artist called Jo Risley as part of the Exhibition work.
