Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth 18th February
Friday 11th January – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back: This week, the class have; dressed in pyjamas, explored area in maths, had their final session of netball, finished the story of the Arctic fox, learnt about the Doppler effect, explored the excavation site of Sutton Hoo, made stained glass windows using Colour Magic and completed their sound work in science. All crammed into one week!
Building On
- Doppler Effect – building on all of their sound work this term.
- Area building on their work on perimeter, earlier in the term.
- Netball – using all the skills they have developed over the half term.

Looking forward:
After half term, the children will begin work on the Vikings. In English, the children will study our Viking tale called Arthur and the Golden Rope. In maths, the children will complete their work on Area and then move onto fraction and decimals. In science, the class will be studying humans as animals, in particular teeth and eating. The P.E. will continue on a Friday afternoon and will be hockey.
Homework in Year 4
Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes
Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
Spellings – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday. It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night. The children remember them better learnt over the week.
Maths– sheet to be handed in on Thursday /Friday at the latest
English - book review sheet to be handed in on Thursday /Friday at the latest
Could the children please complete their homework in pencil or blue/black pen not felt tip.
Timestables – for Friday All timestables - x11x8x7x14 – these will be muddled up this week.
(This can be handed it at anytime before Friday, the children know where the plastic wallets are)
