Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth 20th September
Friday 20th November 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week in our English, we continued our work on the mystery book. We looked at prepositions and using the illustrations from our book to write sentences with them. We looked at the suffixes –ation and –ly. In spelling, the class looked at changing verbs to past tense.
In maths, we worked hard on subtraction, using exchanging. We will continue to work on subtraction strategies next week.
In the afternoons; we had a super busy week. We created and painted our Everest mountain ranges in our dioramas. We learnt more about George Mallory and his Everest timeline. The class continued to work on their street dance inspired solids, liquids and gases dance as well as practising our songs with Mrs Sant and in class.
Questions to ask at home:
- What happened when George Mallory attempted to summit Everest for the third time?
- Why was he such a gifted climber?
- When did George Mallory climb Everest?
- What perils would he face on the mountain?
- What is exchanging in maths?
- What is a preposition?
- Can you give me 3 words with the suffixes –ation and –ly in them?
CHALLENGE – If anyone from Year 4 brings the answers to these questions to me by Tuesday – they will receive 10 housepoints!
