Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth 21st January

Friday 14th January – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back: This week, the children finally read the book ‘Leaf’.  We started to discuss our own writing and the subject of our own Outsider Narrative.  We looked at an example of a story based on Leaf and responded to it.  What it made us think, feel and see?  In maths, we completed our progress tests and looked at some of the common errors – we did have a few “do’oh” moments!  In the afternoons, the class have looked at the Anglo-Saxon villages and what life was like in them.  They had an absolute ball making musical instruments.  The children loved this session.

Today, the children had a cracking netball session with Mr Biggs and developed their skills as well as their sportsmanship and working as a team.

Building On

  • E. – multi-ball skills that have been developed since Reception
  • Arithmetic skills from the Autumn term as well as Year 3
  • Reading skills and interpreting the text that the children have been developing since they began to read.
  • Learning about Anglo-Saxon settlements, building on the houses and homes work the children completed in Year 2.
  • Questions to ask at home
  • What is commutative law?
  • What happens in the story ‘Leaf’?
  • What different passes do you know in netball?
  • How are you getting on with your Accelerated Reader quizzes?
  • How are you getting on with your TTRockstars?
  • What would you find in an Anglo-Saxon village?
  • Where did they come from?
  • When did they settle in Britain?
