Friday 20th May– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, the children worked really hard on their decimals work again. We looked at writing and comparing decimals.
In English, we continued to work on our stories with a view to publishing our work.
Building On
- Publishing using joined handwriting.
- Decimals work from Year 3
- Multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. These was looked at in Year 3 and in Year 4.

Looking forward:
All of the children will need to bring their swimming bags on Thursday for their final swimming sessions on that day. Young Voices - anyone who is going to Young Voices will swim on Thursday morning.
Next week we will be looking at some more aspects of finance as part of our PSCHE work, In R.E. the children will be exploring Jewish weddings and the children will also be taking part in a Wider Opportunities music lesson, in preparation for next year. We are expecting some very special visitors on Monday - details on the newsletter. We will be doing some research on mountains and building on our knowledge of weather phrases in French. On Friday, it is the Jubilee celebrations with a picnic and kite flying - details on the newsletter.
We are breaking up on Friday for one week and a day because of the extra Bank Holiday so children will return on Tuesday 7th June.
Homework in Year 4
Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes
Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
Spellings – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday. It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night. The children remember them better learnt over the week.
Maths– cream sheet this week to be handed in on Thursday
English – Similes sheet
Could the children please complete their homework in pencil or blue/black pen not felt tip.

(This can be handed it at anytime before Friday, the children know where the plastic wallets are)
