Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 17th November 2023
Friday 17th November – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, the children began to write their biographies for George Mallory. The had a fantastic time Mr Few, one of our school governors, who has visited Everest Base Camp. In maths, we have started to look at addition and subtraction, and the exchanges needed sometimes.
Questions to ask at home -
- What can you tell me about the Himalayas?
- What can you tell me about Everest?
- What can you tell me about George Mallory?
- What is the ‘Mallory Mystery’?
Children’s highlights of the week
- Gymnastics
- Creating our diorama mountain ranges
- Mr Few visiting and telling us about his adventures in the Himalayas
- Rounding in maths
- The timestables test
Looking forward:
This next week, is an exciting week, the children will be learning about freezing in states of matter. Something tells me Monday’s science is going to be very popular. The children are going to be coding using microbots on Wednesday, with A level students from Holmes Chapel High School. As well as learning more about George Mallory ascent of Everest.
Homework in Year 4
Maths – pink sheet
English – more fronted adverbials and a SPAG mat
Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Acelerated Reader Quizzes
Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
Spellings – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday. It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night. The children remember them better learnt over the week.
