Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth Friday 28th May 2021

Friday 28th  May – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

In the final week, we finished publishing our twisted narrative endings and worked through English and maths assessments to see how we are progressing.  We had our final swimming session and gymnastic sessions, which we all enjoyed immensely.

Questions to ask at home:

What is a rune?

Can you remember how to write your name in runes?

What is a twisted ending to a traditional story?

What work have you been completing on decimals?

What did you do in your last swim session?

The class highlights of the week

  • Swimming
  • Being with my friends and my teachers
  • Going on the field at lunchtime
  • Gymnastics
  • Anglo-Saxons Alfred and the cakes as well as the runes work.
  • Finn coming back to school
  • Publishing my story
  • PBuzzes
  • TTrockstars!
  • Everything!

Looking forward:

Foxhowl trip to Delamere – Please have your packed lunch (unless school kitchen providing it), sturdy shoes, waterproof coat, hat and waterbottle.  Remember you do not need to wear school uniform, but hard wearing clothes (we could get mucky).

This week, we are going to have our wonderful trip to Delamere as part of our science curriculum.  Our new topic is animals in their habitats.  This trip will support this work tremendously, giving the children first-hand experience of looking at animal habitats.  We will begin our new English topic, which is a Viking myth.  We will continue our work on decimals in maths and Anglo-Saxons in history.

We will be working with Premier Sports on Friday mornings, this half term taking part in athletics.

Remember to learn spellings for Wednesday and timestables for Friday.

Homework in Year 4

Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins

Soundcheck is a great tool to prepare the children for the Goostrey Multiplication Tables Check in June.

Spellings  – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday.  It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night.  The children remember them better learnt over the week.
