Yr 4 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 4th February

Friday 28th January – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back: This week, the children began to use all the English work we have covered over the last 3 weeks and put this together in their own version of an outsider narrative.  Wow Wow and double wow.  The writing is incredible.  In maths, we have been looking at the multiplying 2 digit numbers with 1 digit numbers as well as consolidating our understanding of factors.  In netball the children worked on their team playing skills with Mr Biggs.  In history the children worked on the Anglo-Saxon society.

Building On

  • Timestables building on from arrays in Year 1
  • Writing – building on the vocabulary work and ‘tune of the text’ work, so the children know what to include in the outsider narrative.
  • History – looking at clothes and society, building on the work from last year when the class explored the Romans.
  • P.E. team building skills from Keystage 1 P.E.
  • Questions to ask at home
  • What is commutative law? (revision)
  • Tell me about your Outsider narrative story?
  • What is your current time in TTRockstars?
  • Highlights of the week for the children
  • TTRockstars!
  • E. I love it!
  • The book fair
  • Writing my story

  • Looking at Anglo-Saxon clothes and food.

Looking forward:

The children will be visiting the book fair this week.  They will come home with their 'wish lists' so you can order the books online.  These will then be passed to the children in school.

This week, we will be publishing our stories.  Working and multiplication and division in maths.  Visiting the book fair on Monday afternoon.  In science, the children will be exploring sonic booms and the Doppler effect.  In R.E. the children will be looking at the Seder plate as part of the festival of Passover.  In history, the children will be getting to know the interesting Alfred the Great as well as learning all about runes.
