Looking Back and Forth 10th December

Friday 10th December – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back: This week, the children finished writing their water cycle explanatory texts and set about starting to publish them.

In maths, we worked hard on perimeters and began to look at rectilinear shapes and their perimeters.  We also had the second week of our timestables test on x2, x3, x6 and x18’s.

This week, the children have on more changing states work in science, which has linked wonderfully to their English writing.

Building On

  • Maths work – shape work in Rec, Yr 1, Yr 2 and Yr 3.
  • Changing state work in science currently in the mornings in English and in science
  • Gymnastic skills building on the activities from all their previous years.
  • Timestables – building on their skills on arrays in Year 1, Year 2 arrays and simple tables, Year 3 timestables work.

Questions to ask at home

  • What is a state of matter?
  • What are the states of matter for water?
  • What is a rectangle?
  • What is a rectilinear shape?
  • How do you calculate the perimeter of a rectangle?

Watch this video – it is a lot of fun and has helped with our learning.
