Looking Back and Forth 16.2.24

Y2 Friday 16th February 2024– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have written letters from Samuel Pepys to King Charles II and applied our knowledge of multiplication and division to help solve word problems. In art we have used pastels and charcoal to draw Great Fire of London houses.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked maths because I liked doing multiplication and division x2
  • I liked reading because I learn more facts
  • I liked history when we wrote letters to King Charles II
  • I liked spelling because we know the words we need to learn at home
  • I enjoyed working with my learning partner
  • I enjoyed RE because we wrote in Hebrew letters
  • I enjoyed PE because we did Dodgeball X3
  • I enjoyed art when we drew houses from the GFOL
  • I enjoyed handwriting because we finished the ‘curly caterpillar family’ X2
  • I liked PE because I liked watching Dodgeball X2

Family discussion questions:

Next half term we will be learning about money- please discuss how much change you get when out shopping.

  • Looking forward:

Next half term we will begin reading a new text and begin writing ‘return narratives'. In math,s we will learn about money, length and height. In PE, we will begin to learn and compose our own dance sequences.

PE is on FRIDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the 8 children that completed the challenge again this week and one pupil who completed it for the 6th time and received a certificate this week. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great half term,

Mr Warhurst
