Looking Back and Forth 1st March 2024

Y2 Friday 1st March 2024– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we started to read and enjoy our new text- Grandad’s Island and used apostrophes for possession. In maths, we have been making the same amount in different ways and in computing we have discussed what to do if we feel uncomfortable when online.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked maths because I worked with my learning partner.
  • I liked English because we looked at a new book.,
  • I liked PE because we did dance- the ‘hokey-cokey’ and musical statues to warm up
  • I liked history because we wrote about the Great Fire of London.
  • I liked my early morning work because I wrote my own stories
  • I liked PE because we did all about music and dance using mirroring x3
  • I liked RE because we finished our Torah scrolls x2
  • I liked maths because I have recognised that mistakes help me learn.
  • I liked English because we wrote about Grand’s Island
  • I liked computing because it was a challenge and I liked the song.
  • I liked handwriting because it helps me with my letter formation.
  • I liked reading
  • I liked PE

Family discussion questions:

Next week we will be learning about length and height. Please talk about the length of objects- which are longer, shorter?  Please also talk with your child about what they would do if they felt uncomfortable when using technology online.

  • Looking forward:

Next  week we will look at the features of return narratives and in maths, we will measure in centimetres and metres and compare length and height.

PE is on FRIDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the 9 children that completed the challenge again this week and three children who completed it for the 6th time and received a certificate this week. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great week,

Mr Warhurst
