Looking back and Forth 22.3.24

Y2 Friday 22nd March 2024– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have written our own ‘return narratives’ and measured volume and temperature. In science, we have been learning what a habitat needs to provide for a living thing.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked science because we drew animals and what their habitat has X 3
  • I enjoyed PE because we choreographed a dance X 12 (A very popular lesson!)
  • I liked PE because we worked together
  • I enjoyed maths because I liked measuring volume
  • I liked playtime because I played nice games with my friends
  • I enjoyed everything because it was fun and exciting!
  • I liked RE because we made stained glass windows
  • I enjoyed handwriting because we are learning lots of letter formation

Family discussion questions:

Next week we will be learning about microhabitats. Examples of a microhabitats include  under a log or under a rock. Can you find a microhabitat in your garden? What is living there?

Looking forward:

Next week we be identifying microhabitats in the school grounds and discussing why the things living there are suited to the habitat.

PE is on FRIDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the children that completed the challenge again this week and children who completed it for the 6th time and received a certificate this week. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great week,

Mr Warhurst
