Y2 Friday 8th December 2023– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have been working hard on our Nativity performance and learning our lines and songs. In science, we have explored uses of materials around the school and in history we have compared different types of Tudor houses.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked PE because we have learnt lots of different jumps
  • I liked looking for different materials around school
  • I liked English because we have published our writing
  • I liked talking about different Tudor houses
  • I liked trying on my nativity costume
  • I liked phonics- adding ed to y words
  • I liked handwriting because we did u and l
  • I liked spelling because it was hard and difficult
  • I liked doing the Nativity without scripts x2
  • I liked editing and improving my work
  • I liked working with my partner because he was supportive
  • I liked that my partner helped me a lot

 

  • Family discussion questions:
  • For science, please discuss how the shape of objects can be can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching. Can you find objects in the house you can bend or squash or stretch?
  • Please continue to help your child learn their lines for the Nativity.

 

Looking forward: Next week we will compare modern and Victorian house and continue our rehearsals.  

 

Reminders-        Nativity Tickets Are in Homework Folders

 

  • Christmas Shop- please send money in a named envelope or purse, with a list of who is being bought for and a named bag by Monday 11th December ready for Christmas Shop on that day- this is our slot. 

 

  • PTA hamper tickets- ON SALE NOW £1 per strip- please send money in a named envelope. 

  

  • Infant Christmas workshop Wednesday 13th December. 

 

  • Elf Run- Friday 15th December. 

 

  • PTA hamper Draw- Monday 18th December. 

 

  • Whole school pantomime Wednesday 20th December- afternoon. 

 

  • Christmas Dinner day Thursday 21st December. 

 

PE is on TUESDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. More children completed the challenge this week- some for an incredible 6th time!!!!!

Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
