Looking Back and Forth Friday 6th May Yr 4

Friday 6th May – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, the children really started to look in greater detail at scene settings in books.  We explored an extract from Charlotte’s web as well as our model text from the book, The Whale.

In maths, we looked at tenths and decimals work when you divide numbers by 10.

Building On

  • Fractions and decimals work from Year 3
  • Writing scene settings from the work we completed on the book, The Journey.

Questions to ask at home

  • What is a simile?
  • What is personification?
  • What does the words ominous and elusive mean?
  • What does ‘contemplating your fate’ mean?

Highlights of the week for the children

  • Maths today looking at dividing 2 digit numbers by 10
  • Science – looking at animals
  • Rounders with Mr Biggs
  • Break time with my friends
  • Timestables test
  • Looking at the tune of the text in English
  • Homework club and getting all of my homework completed
  •

Looking forward:

This week,  the children will continue to explore scene settings in different texts and look at hundredths in maths.

In the afternoons with Mrs Cooper,  the children will be researching mountain climates.   Looking at how to draw mountains.  Exploring Shabbat in R.E. as well as further studies into animals in science.

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
