Looking Back and Forth - Friday 8th March

Friday 8th March – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, the children continued to work on their new book in English called ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’.  The class are currently exploring the adventures of Eleanor Brownstone, a courageous and intrepid explorer.  In maths, we are working on division, and looking at different methods as well as remainders.

This week, we also went to Delamere.  The children were amazing and attacked every activity with relish!  We spent a lot of time in the forest; exploring the area, looking at habitats of animals, orienteering around the grounds, map reading up to Black Lake, stream dipping, singing around the campfire and eating marshmallows.  We also worked on team building, problem solving, helping each other,  helping organise the dormitories and eating!

Looking forward:

This week the children will be putting all their thoughts and memories together on a double page spread of Delamere, as well as runic printing and learning about the missionaries in Anglo Saxon times.

Homework in Year 4

Maths/English – homework set last week - pupils have 2 weeks to complete it - it should be handed in by Friday 15th March.

Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Acelerated Reader Quizzes

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins

Spellings  – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday.  It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night.  The children remember them better learnt over the week.
