Friday 18 March 2022- Looking Back and Forth in Reception

Looking Back – what we have done this week

Well if you didn’t already know we learnt all about dinosaurs this week and that was just me and Mrs Raven! :-)The children know a lot of information and can name so many dinosaurs some of which I had not heard of before. They enjoyed using the reference books and each child wrote a few factual statements.
In maths we looked at one more and one less. Sounds easy but one less stumped many of them. We soon got the hang of it! We have also been doing lots of problem solving and trying out different ways to get to the answer.
In music which we do every Friday, we have been learning the words to “I’m a Spring Chicken” and another favourite is “The ants go marching in.” Mrs Sant, our music lead, came over last week to join in our lesson and she was very impressed with their control when playing instruments and their enthusiasm in the session. We do love our sing and dance time!
We made fossil prints this week so each child will bring home their fossil at the end of the term
It has been so lovely to have the sun come out at the end of the week and we got out onto the field and into the woods.
Looking forward to next week’s learning:
We will be learning about caves and looking at cave paintings found in the area around our twin school, Elizabethfontein, in South Africa.
