Reception looking back and forth week ending 10th June 2022

Friday 10th June 2022- Looking Back and Forth in Reception

Looking Back – what we have done this week

This week I read them the story of "Bob the Man on the moon". Our writing is based around this for the next two weeks. We asked the children what they would like the reading corner and the role play area to be, they have chosen “Rocket Reading corner” and “Space Station shop”.
In maths we are doing loads of addition and subtraction story sums/problem solving. I am also showing them how to write number sentences.
In phonics we are making sure they can write simple sentences independently using the correct spellings for phase 3 tricky words. I am trying to build up their confidence to trust themselves when writing and not looking at their neighbours!
I am beginning to slowly introduce them to the very exciting idea of moving into Year 1 and we chat about it with positivity.
I hope you saw the “hug” they brought home on Thursday as part of our PHSCE story “The Family”.
In PE they were out on the field running races and preparing for sports day.

Looking forward to next week:

We will be writing the story of Bob the man on the moon from the picture clues we have drawn. This will help them build their sentences. We will be learning about the planets. The children are having their height and weight measured on Monday morning. On Wednesday it is free dress day in exchange for sweets for Rose Day. On Thursday it is class and whole school photos. On Tuesday and on Thursday it is Father’s Day shop.
