Reception Looking back and forth week ending 17th June 2022

Looking back and forth week ending 17th June 2022

Our week started with weight and height measuring which went so smoothly. Caroline, our school nurse, emailed to say how well the children lined up and cooperated! Then to settle them after this change of routine to focus on introducing the writing task this week. Our Book for the two weeks has been Bob, the man on the moon. We did a pictogram of the story for them to follow when writing their sentences. This worked well and they wrote loads. Some of them find it hard to remember the sentence they are writing so I have to remind them of every word and I thought the pictures would help, so this is work in progress to build up this memory skill.

On Tuesday afternoon Mrs Saunby (Daisy and Ella's mum), came in to do a talk about her job as a vet. What a super presentation she did! She brought three patients with her (the toy versions) and talked us through their consultations. She then performed an operation on the last patient. It was excellent! Thank you!!!!

Not sure if the children have been singing the planet song but this has been well received in class this week along with the other short videos, I have shown them about planets. They have learnt lots of new facts about the solar system. The song they loved is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnTaAoWs-Mo

Please check your child’s bag for their Father’s Day card.

Thursday was a busy day as it was hard work keeping 30 children looking extra tidy and clean for photos. Class photos were taken after lunch so we did our best to scrub up well and hopefully we all look spick and span and you don’t spot the lunch stains on tops.
On Friday morning we had buddy time after PE. In PE, Mr Biggs, started getting them ready for Sport’s Day by running them off in groups. It was hot so they had lots of drinks breaks.

Next week:
On Wednesday the children will be watching “Fables at the Kitchen Table” a production. Pre-school will be joining us.
We are looking at doing a buddy trip to Bidlea Farm in the last week of term. More details to follow.
It is Sport’s Day on Tuesday 5th July in the afternoon at 1:15. The PTA will be serving strawberries and cream for the adults. Reserve Sport’s Day is Friday 8th July in the afternoon.
