Reception update week ending Friday 20th January 2023

This week has been a wonderful snow show and a lot of our attention has been focussed on that. It takes time to put boots on and then take boots off and change into dry socks and hang wet socks up. It has been quite a lesson in organision from all parties. We got the sledge out and attempted to build a few snowmen too but mostly we have just had a lot of fun.

This week we have learnt 4 new sounds: ur/oi/ear/ow. Actions for ur is opening a purse/ action for ow is pretending to squeeze a flower which squirts water/oi is a finger flick and ear is cup you ear.

The children have written a short descriptive text about themselves and drawn a self-portrait. In art they have all drawn a line drawing of a skeleton and I have to say they did a very good job as I think it is quite a tricky thing to do.

In buddy time on Friday half the class went over to the Year 6 class and read to their buddies. I think they Year 6 children where very impressed.

Parents evenings in March will happen over a three week period and the slots will go live on March 6th at 7pm. I will remind you.

Have a good weekend
