Reception weekly update Friday 6th January

Hello all and Happy New Year!

The children have come back so well and ready to learn. Our topic this term is "All About Me" and we are going to focus on the senses and how our bodies work. We have set up the role play area as a doctor's surgery which they absolutely love. Mrs Richmond was cured of some horrible illness today and I had my eye wound checked and cleaned. No long waiting time to see the doctor at this surgery and friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

We have revised all phonics taught so far and focused on the harder to remember sounds: ai, oa, th, ch, sh, igh, ng, ee. I went through all their pots this week and added more sounds (igh and oa) and more words if they needed. I am pleased with how much they retained over the exciting Christmas holiday.

They have all read with an adult this week (I may not have written this in their reading record).

On Wednesday afternoon they did monoprinting with Mrs Raven and this will go into their art books with their other printing pieces.

On Thursday we did Thankfulness in our My Happy Mind session. We have a "Thankfulness jar" in class with a note from each of them saying what they are thankful for. I have asked them to try and tell their family members what they are thankful for at least once a day!

We had a lovely buddy time this afternoon with half the class going to the Year 6 class to do some drawing on the computer. They will have their picture in their bag.

Have a good weekend.
