we 11th November Year 1

Hi All,

The children have returned back in good spirits and have worked well this week.

In Literacy this week we will continue to look at Information Texts – Last week we looked at asking questions, started to look at question words (what, why, how and where) and used question marks.

If you have a chance at home to look at information books and especially focus on the features (front cover, title page, contents page, captions and photographs or diagrams) this would really support the children’s learning.

In maths we will be continuing our work on adding.  Looking at different ways to make numbers, as well as adding on small numbers to big ones.

In the afternoons…

We will be looking for signs of Autumn.  Continuing our work on Judiasm with Mrs Cuttle.  Taking part in a carousel of activities on Thursday for our British Values theme day.

The children’s highlights this week

  • Football club with Premier Sports
  • Being told about Beebots
  • Spellings with Mrs Saxton
  • Looking at who is going to be president in the United States of America
  • Everything!
  • Using highlighters
  • Looking at nocturnal animals
  • Lunch and playing with the toys in the classroom
  • Working on adding in maths
  • The firework pictures
  • Reading with Miss Bairstow
  • Working with Mrs Cuttle on Monday
  • Doing my homework

Remember

This week (Tuesday and Thursday) Parents’ Evening

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge.  Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home.
