we 14th July Year 1

Hi All,

We can’t believe it – it is our final full week together in Year 1. Time has truly flown, we have had a great time so far. The children have been great and to quote Simon Cowell – ‘we have well and truly had a journey!’

The children have been amazing, we have had cheerful greetings in the mornings. Excitement and enthusiasm for the topics we have completed. We have learnt a lot too. We have learnt to fidget spin with our thumbs and can do a mean ‘dab’!

Your treasures this year have shown perseverance through tricky work. Sensitivity to their class mates and become encouraging and supportive. They’re a dynamic bunch and there is never a dull moment – and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Thank you parents for being supportive, filling in endless reading records and permission slips, getting involved with the class projects, ferrying Grandparents in for the ‘world of wonder’ and giving us a cheery smile of greeting too – It does mean a lot.

This week in English we will be finishing writing our teddy stories.

In maths, the children will be completing our work on fractions of number and then moving onto division.

Our highlights of the week

  • Handwriting
  • Football club – playing with the older children on the field.
  • The Eid Party with Daniel’s mum
  • Challenge maths
  • Friday assembly
  • Making cards for Eid
  • Everything!

Remember

PE kits needed this week with names on the labels.

Maths homework sheets for Friday.

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge. Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home. IT COULD BE YOUR LAST CHANCE!
