we 24th March Year 1

Hi All,

In English we will be carrying on with the superheroes topic. Last week the children explored adding es or s to words to make them plurals. If you have a chance could you ask your child what a plural is? This will help re-inforce their learning.

This week we will be meeting Traction Man and creating some baddies for him to defeat  - ‘From the depths of the SINK OF DOOM!’ (Not until Wednesday – so don’t mention it quite yet!).

In maths this week, the children will be working in number, addition and subtraction. They will be using their numbers to 100, so any opportunities to counting or write numbers to 100 would be great! We will also be looking at ordinal numbers.

In the afternoons the children will have Religious Education, Science and topic work. There will also be P.E. lessons and Show and Tell Friday!

Our highlights of the week:

  • Shopping at the Mothers’ Day shop
  • Our fantastic trip to Alma Park
  • Meeting new friends
  • Visiting the Mosque and watching the prayers
  • Being given a lovely present from the people at the mosque
  • Building the pyramid with Mr. Nicholson
  • Playing with my friends
  • Before school football club

Remember

No handwriting was given out on Friday

PE kits needed this week

Double check your child’s footwear for P.E. – make sure they’re the correct size

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge. Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home.
