we 25th November Year 1

Hi All,

In Literacy this week we will continue to look at Information Texts – This week we are going to make our own book about Barn Owls.

If you have a chance at home to look at information books and especially focus on the features (front cover, title page, contents page, captions and photographs or diagrams) this would really support the children’s learning.

In maths we will be exploring a unit on money – coins in particular.  If you could let your child explore coins with you – looking at different ways to make amounts.  Not only is it great fun, but will also support your child’s learning in school.

Highlights this week from the children.

  • Owl writing with Fluff
  • Reading
  • Playing on the new train (thank you PTA)
  • Painting santas
  • Everything!
  • Beebots
  • Working with dice in maths
  • Playing with the lego

Remember

Christmas Bazaar on Friday – you will need to pick up your child from the door of the Sunshine Room (we won’t be in the year 1 classroom).

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge.  Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home.

Homework sheets to be handed in on Friday.
