we 3rd February Year 1

Hi All,

In Literacy we will continuing our unit traditional stories and fairy tales. This week we will look at traditional tales, with the added twist of creating our own. We are going to work on using conjunctions (‘and’ and ‘or’) to extend sentences or put two small sentences together to form a big long one as well to make our sentences more complex. We will be really trying to get our punctuation correct with capital letters and full stops in the correct place.

In maths we will be looking at place value exploring numbers to 100 and counting in 10s. We are really trying to make sure the children write their numbers the correct way around. If you could practise this at home, it would be really helpful as well as counting to one hundred (a great way to do this would be on the wa. With Mrs Saxton the children will continue to explore the properties of 2d and 3d shapes.

In the afternoons the children will have Religious Education (looking at ‘Belonging’ and Music (with Mrs Hext) on Monday. For the rest of the week the children will continue their work on materials and megastructures as well as P.E. lessons and Show and Tell Friday!
