we 7th July Year 1

Hi All,

The end of another busy week. It is scary to think of how this year has flown by. We have been telling the Year 1 class that they’re now ‘Year 2’s in Training’. This, they have taken really seriously and Transition week was a great chance for the class to get to know Mrs Freeman a bit more.

This week in English we will be working on stories with a familiar setting. The children will be describing their teddies, as well as looking at the story 'Knuffle Bunny'.

In maths, the children will be continuing our work on fractions of shape and number.

The class will be having a super Eid party on Monday. Thank you Daniel’s mum for helping with this.

Our highlights of the week are all Transition week themes

  • Doing my potato head alien
  • The walk through the Bongs, and going to Mrs Mottershead’s to play.
  • Everything! The whole week!
  • Making the star cookies and decorating them
  • Playing in Reception
  • Spaceships with Mrs Raven
  • Getting to know what it is like to work in Year 2
  • Colouring the aliens in with Finley
  • Playing in the water in Reception
  • Making the moons with Mr Few outside
  • Making goo in Reception

PE kits needed this week with names on the labels.

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge. Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home.
