week beginning 27th March Year 1

Hi All,

In English we will be continue with our work on dinosaurs (later in the week we will look at fossils as well). We will start to look at non-fiction texts about dinosaurs. This week we will be fact finding; looking at the difference between fact and fiction and collecting our facts together.

In maths we will be looking at doubling numbers as well as odd and even numbers.

In the afternoons the children will have Religious Education and start to look at Easter. The children will continue their work on materials and megastructures in the afternoons as well as P.E. lessons and Show and Tell Friday!

Our highlights of the week:

  • Millie the dinosaur visiting us in school

  • Digging fossils with brushes

  • Reading the dinosaur poems with actions!

  • Completing the reading competition picture

    Early ‘Heads Up’

The Phonics Screening meeting for parents will be on the 10th March. We will repeat the session twice that day to give you a chance to attend one.

One session will be at 9am in the Sunshine Room directly after drop off. If you can’t make this one, there will be another at 6.45 pm in the evening in the Sunshine Room (It is film night so if possible you can drop your children off and at film night, get them settled, and then come to the meeting).

Homework sheets to be handed in on Friday.

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge. Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home.

If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
