week ending 5th May Year 1

Hi All,

In English we will be continuing or new topic on stories and poems with repeating patterns. Last week the children were looking at adding relevant verbs and interesting adjectives into their sentences.

In maths this week, the children will be continuing with number addition and subtraction topic, and later in the week the children will be exploring number sequences. We will also be revisiting doubling (hence the challenge work on the back of the homework sheet).

In the afternoons the children will be walking to St Luke’s and also a village walk. Fingers crossed for the weather. The children will also be continuing with their work on portraits.

Our highlights of the week:

  • I enjoyed doubling numbers
  • Break time – playing football on the field
  • Animals writing – Caribbean animals for our counting poem
  • Marking my maths homework
  • Adding adjectives to my Caribbean animals writing

Don’t forget the reading challenge – so far we have had lots of children taking the challenge. Remember it has to be 14 days consecutive reading at home.
