In Maths we have looked at fractions- half and quarter of objects, shapes and amounts.

In Geography we have identified human and physical features in our school grounds.

In Science we have found and named trees based on their leaves, as well as naming the different parts trees have.

Family discussion questions:

  • What trees can you see in your garden or on a walk?
  • Can you correct my spellings? ‘lighk’, ‘sed’ and ‘peeple’
  • How many sharing circles would you need to find half of an amount? What about a quarter?

Looking forward:

Next week we will write our portal narrative story.

In Maths consolidate our topics on multiplication and division and fractions.

In D and T we will be making our sandwiches with some ingredients from plants and evaluating them.

We will also be learning about Queen Elizabeth II and the Jubilee - beore cmpelting crafts inspired by this on Thursday. On Friday, we are making kites with Y5 in the morning and flying them in the afternoon.

Reminders:

  • I have put together a Phonics activity booklet- games, phoneme spotters, reading of real and fake words. I thought this would be something fun for the children to enjoy and to reinforce their Phonics learning.

  • Our 14 day Reading Challenge has started again, so please write each time your child reads so they can earn 10 house points for their 14 consecutive reads. I will change books overnight on a Thursday

  • Alongside the spelling and handwriting/Phonics homework, I have sent home Maths homework. This will be marked together so any misconceptions can be address. Please complete this in pencil.

  • PE this half term is Friday- please wear PE kits on this day.

If you have any questions please ask.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Kind regards and take care

Ms Cummins
