Y1 Friday 29th September 2023– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

Another fantastic week in Year 1- great effort to complete independent work and attitude to learning!

In Maths we have counted objects and represented them in a tens frame.

In English we have used adjectives to describe our friends and put these ideas into sentences including capital letters and full stops.

In Art we have layered coloured materials to create textured collages for exhibition.

In Science we have sorted animals into groups based on what they eat- omnivores, herbivores and carnivores.

In Geography and Science, we have recognised the seasonal variations across each season.

We celebrated Butterfly Day and everyone looked wonderful!

We have enjoyed our first marble jar treat of Year 1.

In Maths we will be counting on from any number and finding one more before beginning to count backwards.

In Art we will eb making birdhouses and in D&T we will continue to create our bug hotels.

Reminders:

Book change on Thursday- please ensure books are in school so these can be changed overnight.

Please continue to read every night. If this could be recorded in reading diaries so I can track progress for our 14 day Reading Challenge.

Just to clarify- Reading challenges are counted up every Thursday during book change and then awarded on Friday (backdated if awarded before that). We celebrate this achievement as a class all together.

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs Carew
