Y2 Looking Back and Forth 15th July

Friday 15th July 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

We spent much of the week enjoying alien themed transition activities. The children were able to mix with different year groups and choose which activities they wanted to do. We also continued to practise arithmetic and phonics skills. In history we explored our Castles topic and also liked this art. We looked at work by Paul Klee and his similarities to Kandinsky, who they studied in Year 1. The children are creating their own work inspired by Klee and these are looking fantastic so far. On Friday we had a great day working Year 3 to make castles with a moving drawbridge. It was a chance for Year 2 to rekindle friendships with the Year 3 children and to meet Mrs Sant.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Friday with year 3
  • PE
  • Everything we do!

Family discussion/questions:

Ask your child about the work of Paul Klee.

Looking forward:

  • Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
  • PE will be on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
  • The weather is forecast to be extremely hot on Monday and Tuesday. Please read Miss Atkins’ message in this week’s newsletter. Children can wear their school PE kits on Monday and Tuesday. Please apply sun-cream before they come to school and ensure they have a water bottle with them.
  • Thursday will be Forest Schools Day for Year 2 and Year 1. More details to follow....

Homework in Year 2

Please ensure all homework is completed and do let me know if you have any concerns

Homework will be slightly different for the rest of the term. Please continue to read regularly and ask your child questions about their book. There are ideas in the file section of our class page.

Spellings will be from all the rules learned over the year so nothing specific will be sent home.
