Y3 21/5/21 Looking Back & Forth

Friday 21st  May 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Well, despite the soggy week weather wise, we have lit up the classroom with some fabulous learning and our talent has most certainly shone through – well done and thank you for another great week Class 3! Naturally, I will begin by thanking the swimming coaches and all of the staff who have organised and helped run the swimming session throughout this week. It has been a brilliant experience for our children and one which I never thought I’d see. Roll on next week’s sessions too. In amongst this, we have worked really hard on our final pieces all about The Rhythm Of The Rain and they are reading terrifically well so far – completion on Monday. We have finally finished our topic on Fractions too and have battled our way through to a really good level of understanding now. What a blast we have had with our Times Tables Challenge this week with almost everyone improving which is exactly what we are aiming for! What a mature session we had in RE this week where we analysed the famous art masterpiece ‘The Return of the Prodigal Son’ and thought about what Rembrandt was trying to convey about the Christian teachings of Jesus. There responses to our Conscience Alley were really very interesting to hear. Finally, our historical research into Roman homes was brilliant and we liked the sound of owning our own Domus and Countryside Villa.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Swimming in our pool!!!!!!!
  • Art – half way through our final piece now
  • Writing our final piece in English
  • Times Table Challenge
  • Acting out our Conscience Alley in RE
  • Guided Reading – The Invasion Of the Aliens
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • Who is an Atrium?
  • What decision do you think the Prodigal Son should have made?
  • Who were the Aliens?

Looking forward:

Next week we will be continuing with our swimming sessions with everyone bac in the pool on Thursday! We will also be completing our English publishing, working hard to show off our skills in quiz assessment time, completing our final piece of artwork, another Times Table Challenge, Arithmetic sheet and Spelling Test, alongside completing our history piece. Lots happening as always.

  • Just another reminder that PE is on Friday’s and so PE kit will need to be worn on that day please.
  • Thank you for your time during Parent’s Evening – it was great to talk with you after quite a long time.

Thank you for your continued support this week. We are working really hard again to improve our times tables and our test scores so any learning support you can offer would be greatly appreciated as they really want to smash it during our last week of this Half Term. Same with the spellings – we are going for a full house of scores.                                                                                                                                                               Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed for at least an hour of dry weather                                                  Take care and stay safe,                                                                                                                                          Mrs Sant
