Y3 Looking back and forth 25.09.20

Friday 25th September 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Thank you to all of the children in Class Three for another great week. My goodness have we worked hard. We’ve loved reading the beginning of our Iron Man book and have already written so many sophisticated sentences using all of the word classes we have learned about so far. We’ve had a great time in guided reading and the ‘What If?’ book and in Maths, have extended our learning to include number lines, comparing hundreds numbers and solving problems. We have shown what we know so far as we have completed our assessments. Geography was very interesting this week too as we discovered the difference between human and physical features of the UK and researched some examples of these. PE was a highlight on Tuesday as we used our names to exercise and improve our core strength. What a week!!!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Reading the ‘What If?’ book as a class.
  • Spelling work.
  • Number lines work even though it was tricky.
  • Reading assessment bobble hat work.
  • Enjoying the ‘Iron Man’ story
  • Getting our new reading books.
  • Eating at lunchtime
  • More of George’s Marvellous Medicine
  • Science – learning more about food groups
  • Using the Maths equipment
  • Making or names out of exercises.
  • Being with Mrs Sant
  • No surprise – everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is the difference between the human and physical features of the UK?
  • How would you describe the character of the Iron Man?
  • Challenge Question: Who wrote our class book – What If?

Looking forward:

We have started our Spelling program today and will be continuing with this each week going forward. In an effort to keep things as simple as possible, I have decided to bring the weekly spellings in line with our other homework and so from now, the spellings will come out each Friday too, ready to be tested the following Friday.

Next week, will see us discover the impact of some great British inventors within our History work, find out more about symbols in Christianity, begin our Accelerated Reader quizzes on Monday, change our books if ready, begin to write a threat narrative for the Iron Man, enjoy a new book in Guided Reading, move on to complete our Place Value unit in Maths and of course much more!

PE will be on Tuesday again but NOT on Friday.

Thank you again for a wonderful week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
