Y3 Looking Back and Forth 7/1/22

Friday 7th January 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

What a lovely first few days back it’s been this week – thank you for coming back with such positivity and enthusiasm Class Three. We have enjoyed our new book in PSHE today ‘This Is My House’ by Michael Rosen. We have discovered that we celebrate difference and appreciate everyone for their own unique personalities which is quite lovely. English has been interesting as we have stepped inside our new book ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and have already developed some really ambitious vocabulary which is fantastic! We have recapped on our learning from Year 2 as we have begun to work on multiplication and division and we have tried to plug any gaps we uncovered so we’re feeling quite secure so far. We have enjoyed using our computing skills this week too as we have prepared a guide sheet for ‘would be’ safari explorers interested in seeing the ‘BIG FIVE’ in Africa and as usual…much more!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Music – moving to different pieces of music which describe animals
  • Creating sentences in English about ‘The Iron Man.’
  • Our new book – ‘This Is My House’ and listening to George
  • Playing with my friends again
  • Working on the laptops to make our safari guides
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What does menacing mean and can you show me your facial expression to match?
  • What did George do in our new book ‘This Is My House?’
  • What did you label yourself with when thinking about something interesting and different about you?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be continuing with our multiplication and division work in maths, by looking at multiplying by 10, dividing by 2, 5 and 10 and thinking about the three times table. In English, we will be using our sentence work to help us write a scene setting for ‘The Iron Man’ and in geography, we will be completing the safari guides. We will begin our new history topic of ‘Great British Inventors’ and in PE, we will begin our new dance topic!

Could I also say a huge thank you to everyone who very kindly gave me a Christmas gift. You are all so kind to me and I am truly grateful – thank you.
