Y3 Looking Back & Forth 2/7/21

Friday 2nd July 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

We have had a brilliant week this week and the children have worked incredibly hard yet again. We have started work on our final written piece in English and have compiled our list of things to include together – we are so excited to finish our year off with a bang and to write our very best piece. We have investigated measurement in maths where we have converted from mm, to cm to m and even km! Our actions to match have helped us to visualise what would be best to use when measure different sized objects and we have now moved onto to perimeter which is brand learning yet again – great job! We had a great time bringing together everything we now know about the Romans and have surprised ourselves with our breadth of knowledge. In Geography, we have begun our research into The Kruger National Park and its incredible wildlife and our tourist leaflets are looking good already. What a time we had learning how to skip in PE and our week has finished off with learning how to accurately colour mix and prepare a background in the Tingatinga style – thank you for a great week once again Class Three!

 Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Science – planting our seeds and looking at the parts of a flower
  • Measuring in maths
  • Art water colours
  • Writing our final pieces in English
  • Practising our actions for mm, cm, m and km

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • Where is the Kruger National park and what happens there?
  • What is the rule when painting with water colours?
  • What does ebony mean?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be working hard to complete our final assessments of the year so it’s time to shine. We will also be completing our final written piece and publishing it, continuing with our artwork, completing our tourist leaflet in Geography on the laptops, working towards the completion of the Plants topic in Science and revealing our final PSHE book to share and enjoy.

  • Please not that PE will now be on a Tuesday and so PE kit will need to be worn on that day please.
  • Please don’t forget to read the letter I emailed and start sending in those boxes please.

Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed for the return of the sun on Sunday I believe.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Sant
