Y4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 26th January 2024

Friday 26th January – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, has been another amazing week with writing.  The class have absolutely BLOWN ME AWAY with their writing.  We tried paired writing also this week, which was very popular with the children and produced some great results.  Next week, we will be writing our scene setting. In maths, the children have continued to work on their multiplication and division work.  We are now moving onto a more ‘meaty’ topic with long multiplication and division. All the TTRockstars work will certainly come to good use!

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What did you do with the micro-bits this week?
  • What do you know about Anglo-Saxon villages?
  • What are the different electrical components you have worked with?
  • What makes a good scene setting?
  • What is personification?
  • What is a simile?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • Working with the microbits
  • Learning about the Anglo-Saxons
  • Drawing an Anglo-Saxon village
  • Working on the hot maths
  • Creating electrical circuits in science
  • In My Happy Mind, we are thinking about what you appreciate – so we have an attitude of gratitude!

Looking forward:

This next week, the class will be learning all about Anglo-Saxon society and the hierarchies within it.  In R.E. the children will learn about Bar and Bat Mitzvahs as well as switches in science.
