Y5 10.12.21 Weekly Update

Friday 10th December 2021 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

What lovely week it’s been. Lots of hard work and some great attitudes on show in the classroom. The children have been working hard learning the songs for our Christmas performance, which is on Tuesday at 5pm outside the infant building. The children wrote a great report in our writing lessons – imagining they had visited the moon and producing a report about their mission. The children also enjoyed their WWII rationing cake making session with Mrs Riddell. We have also made Christmas cards for the older residents in the village this week.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed writing our formals report in our English lessons this week.
  • We really liked making cakes with Mrs Riddell.
  • We found it interesting learning about why we have the seasons.
  • We liked making card for local residents.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you what perimeter is, and how to calculate it?
  • Can the children tell you all about rationing and how it impacted on people during WWII?

 Looking forward:

Next week, we have got so much to fit in! We’ve got some final rehearsals for the Christmas Service. We have some PSHE work to do, and an e-safety lesson. We’ve got some WWII work to do about Alan Turing, and the artist Henry Moore. We’re also going to write a VE day diary… not to mention any Christmas activities going on. It’s busy week!

Things to remember:

It’s the Christmas Service on Tuesday (14th) at 5pm outside the infant building (reserve date in case of poor weather is the next day – same time, same place)

Junior Christmas Lunch – Wednesday 15th

Wider Opps ‘Progress Performance’ is on Wednesday 15th December at 1.30pm.
